Ahh ’tis always sad to leave the hometown for another term of school, but at least it was a jolly good break full of:
*trying new cafes in Leslieville and Bloor West Village (I have to make a plug for the “Indie Coffee Passport” – it’s such an awesome deal and encourages you to check out different neighbourhoods that you normally might not get to!)
*going for nature walks – to the Evergreen Brickworks, Rosedale ravine system and High Park
*chillin’ with high school pals and friends from various workplaces
*actually having a GOOD New Year’s Eve night! (Pour Boy + fire escape + wandering + house party + Silver Dollar Room)
*lounging by the fireplace at home
*rediscovering the joys of puzzles and recorder-playing with my sister
*drinking at least two pots of tea per day
One good thing about a warm-ish, not-so-snowy holiday is that I was able to take the bicycle out of its winter retirement! Makes it so much easier to get around the city 🙂
Also realized that I was in Kensington Market five or six times over my ten days in Toronto. Not bad eh?
Here is a sample of my kitchen creations over the break:
Butternut squash soup with red curry paste
Egg and veggie scrambles with toasted tortillas
Spicy lentils with crazy rice blend
Gingerbread scone recipe and fotos to come!
Also wanted to say a very late THANK YOU to Susan @ The Great Balancing Act for this delicious coconut chia granola! It smells incredible and tastes even better. Had to exert great willpower in order to save some to take with me to Waterloo!
